White Coat Ceremony 2025-2026 academic term

The Georgetown American University’s White Coat Ceremony is a symbolic and celebratory event that marks the official entrance of our new medical students into the medical profession. During the ceremony, students are presented with their first white coats—an enduring symbol of the medical profession’s values of compassion, professionalism, and service.

This tradition highlights the transition from pre-medical studies to the formal study of medicine and serves as a reminder of the responsibility students have to uphold the highest standards of patient care, ethics, and integrity. Faculty, family, and friends join in celebrating this milestone, bearing witness as students recite an oath that affirms their commitment to the principles of the medical profession.

The ceremony represents not only the start of a rigorous academic journey but also the beginning of a lifelong calling to serve humanity through medicine.
